Shocked I'm going nuts trying to larn what'south what and playing with different settings. No luck.

If someone tin can effigy this out I'll exist extremely grateful!!! Surprised Shoot, I'll even send $5 bucks to your Paypal and you lot could use it to purchase lunch or something.

I just bought this WRT54GL router because of all the corking reviews. I was told to change the firmware to dd-wrt then I tin tweak the wireless power and brand it a $600 router. I did the initial flash and then the 2nd to dd-wrtv24 std-generic... and everything seems to work fine.

My only result is the PPPoE setup for my Internet connection. I know I have the correct pass and usr. I've tried cloning the MAC and turning off the DHCP. I tried to connect to my modem to make sure it's on bridge way, but can't seem to find the IP for it. Though, I don't call up it'southward the modem's bridge mode because everything works fine with my Belkin router running the PPPoE.

Please help... I've been working on this for iv hrs so far! I'yard fifty-fifty reading all about networking trying to start from the footing up.

Thanks, Joe

1. Change DSL connection type from PPPoE to Bridged Mode on the dsl modem then connect modem port ane (lan) to WRT54GL (router) wan port
two. Enable WAN on DD-WRT
three. Select connection blazon PPPoE
4. Enter credentials
5. Disable PPP Compression, T-Domicile, STP and Strength Reconnect
5. Save & Apply ... wait for a infinitesimal or so and voila!

Thank you

Thank you for the response. Much appreciated!
Step 1. I'grand not understanding completely. I only don't take the back ground to connect to the modem.

I understand changing the connection blazon from PPPoE to Bridged Style on the dsl modem, simply I don't know how to connect to the command console in the modem (speedstream 5100 with no IP on the the characterization). The modem IP address may accept changed from standard besides and I'm non sure how to notice it..? I continued straight to the modem from my computer and tried different IP addresses with no luck.

The other steps brand sense to me. I hope it's this like shooting fish in a barrel. I've been dying to use this router!!!

no worries buddy... please follow these instructions (for Speedstream 5100):

.5 switch off your router (WRT54)

1. turn your modem upside down, and read the yellow stickeron the bottom of the unit of measurement. Write down on a slice of paper the item called MAC.
2. connect your figurer directly to the modem •open your internet explorer and enter »192.168.0.1 as the address.
ii.5 (optional - if non using standard ip of modem) on Windows click start --> run --> type cmd --> enter --> type ipconfig /all --> locate your lan ip address - usually 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x -- your dsl modem's internal ip should either exist 192.168.x.1 or 192.168.1.1 || on Mac --> run final --> type ifconfig --> locate your lan ip accost
3. enter your login and password (to access the control panel of the dsl modem and non your ISP's cyberspace user id and password)
4. click advanced - you will be prompted for a security code, which is what you wrote downward on the paper, above.
5. click PPPoE Location, which is nether the item Avant-garde and beneath Connection Configuration
6. cheque the box next to BRIDGED Manner and printing SAVE CHANGES
7. agree, in the next screen, by clicking on Modify PPP LOCATION

9. disconnect the computer from the modem
10. connect the modem to the WAN port of the router
11. connect your calculator to a LAN port of the router and follow on with footstep 2 of my previous instructions

If, after following all my instructions, your router fails to connect with a WAN IP then you lot'll demand to clone your DSL modem's mac address (from footstep 1) on to your router. To do that, log onto your routerclick on the third tab nether 'Setup', click 'enable and and then click 'Get Current PC MAC Accost' nether Clone WAN MAC .. compare/verify with the mac address from step one. hit employ.

Promise this helps.

I connected straight to the modem and it connects to the cyberspace with the XP PPPoE connection program. I tried the IP addresses y'all gave in IE. Nothing comes up. So, I used ipconfig /all and it doesn't give a lan IP simply these beneath:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.189.250

PPP adapter sbcglobal.net:
IP Accost. . . . . . . . . . . . : 99.48.72.206

I tried both and nothing still. Is in that location a way to reset the modem perchance?

Thanks again!

Your modem is in bridge style - Whats the Concrete Address (MAC) of your PPP Adapter running on XP and your modem's? Do they lucifer?

in that location is a sticker that says factory reset or a hole that's a pin hole take a pen or paper clip concur in the push for near 10 seconds with the modem'southward ability on.

Prepare your lan network adapter to Obtain Auto IP

Then endeavour logging in on 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.254.1 or 192.168.0.i or 192.168.1.one

Those are the but 4 possible combinations for SBC dsl modems

I accept nigh similar problem. Bought Linksys WRT160N v3. Downloaded dd-wrt initial flash build - dd-wrt.v24-13575_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_wrt160nv3 and mini - dd-wrt.v24-13575_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.

Tried many things but all the same no internet thru PPPOE. My current setup with Gnet ADSL modem BB0060, Hawking router HWR54G works perfect and 4 reckoner running without any issue (direct modem also equally thru hawking router). As soon every bit I connect modem and Linksys router than no internet. Tried with mac cloning, setting Linksys router IP to 198.168.five.1, and few other as suggested in the forum. I am really frustrated. Looks that it could something obvious merely I am not able to figure it out.

If I want to downgrade current DD-WRT firmware from 13575 to 13309, is it safe to do so? if so, and so what steps should be followed?

Please help me to setup my Linksys 160N v3 router. Appreciate your help and proffer.

Thanks in accelerate.

That was the problem with my WRT160nV3 as well. The latest version where PPPoE worked was 13309. I could not reach internet via PPPoE with any newer version. It was said past a Guru, that since PPPoE is but a piece of software within the router (there is cipher hw related), it must piece of work, but the only solution for me was to go back to 13309...

You can downgrade DD-WRT, there is no issue, you can do the aforementioned steps every bit a regular fw flashing. (do not forget the resets before and after...)

I have information technology working on build 13832 too as older builds.

In order to employ PPPoE on any router running DD-WRT or stock firmware you lot will need to set your adsl/dsl modem'southward Connection Type to Span Style instead of PPPoE and connect your router's WAN port to the modem'south LAN port ane. Cloning the mac accost of the modem onto the router should simply be carried out if your internet provider confirms that your dsl/adsl line is locked to a sure mac address (being your dsl modem).

PPPoE should only be enabled on your router.

Do any of yous accept teamviewer installed? http://world wide web.teamviewer.com/hi/ - I can remotely connect to help you set information technology up whilst viewing what I am doing.

Thanks everybody for their suggestions and assistance. My PPPoE started working after downgrading from 13575 to 13309, immediately without any fuss or whatsoever more setups. Merely nether basic ready selected PPPoE, user name and countersign, that's it. Definitely some kind of bug or incompatibility with WRT160N and new version.

Nice twenty-four hour period to every torso.

I have a similar modem speedstream 4100 with AT&T and XP as well, has to be in bridge mode. After resetting your modem (little recessed push button in back for 30 seconds). Log on to the WEB GUI with (http://speedstream) so enter USERNAME usually email accost "bare"@sbcglobal.net and whatever your password is for Isp. Find BRIDGE mode, select and save settings.

After that access your WRT54 WEB GUI by typing 192.168.1.1 change USERNAME and PASSWORD. Change DHCP to PPPoE and enter those same fields you did when you accessed your modem WEB GUI.

Now you volition have to prepare (STATIC DNS 1 and STATIC DNS 2) fields under "Network Address Server Settings (DHCP)". AT&T uses STATIC DNS i-> 68.94.156.1 and STATIC DNS two-> 68.94.157.1. Click apply settings and you should exist proficient to go.

None of the MAC addresses lucifer.

I spent another 60 minutes trying to reset the router and failed. I tried holding the reset push button downwardly like you lot said. I downloaded the speedstream 5100 manual and went through the reset procedure which doesn't brand since in the manual. I called speedstream to go through the reset process and they forwarded me to att where I talked to a robot from India who annoyed me and I was told that in that location are 2 versions of the 5100 modem, a dumb one and a smart ane. The impaired one is already in bridge mode ( I have the dumb ane with 4 lights). So, it seems I'yard spinning my wheels.

It looks like I should have bought the 600 dollar router instead of this i for how much trouble it'south been. lol

Anyone that tin can set this I will be then dang grateful you lot have now idea!

Any communication would exist good. Shoot... I would gladly pay a network tech to set up it now. I'm loosing hope hither.

I appreciate how much you've been trying to help!!! Cheers so much!

Is there a reason you say this: "connect your router's WAN port to the modem's LAN port one" because either I'm non getting what you're maxim or it'southward obvious is it not? ... connecting the modem to router (cyberspace wan port) and the router port 1 to the estimator - isn't it a simple thing.

I take a unlike router that works perfect using PPPoE from the router which makes me think the modem is in bridge mode and the at&t tech confirmed that it is because I take a dumb modem that will simply work in helpmate fashion.

I tried that static dns thing too.. withal no go.

Maybe I should try some other firmware? or take the router to a friends and come across if information technology will work there. Does anyone else know what else to try..? Or where I tin can acquire more than about this kind of stuff.

Thanks for your fourth dimension!
